Major Taylor Bicycle Club hosts family ride at Juneteenth celebration

Last Saturday, the Major Taylor Bicycling Club (a non-profit social/recreational bicycling club geared toward the African-American communities in Minneapolis and St. Paul) hosted a “family ride” for all ages along the Mississippi River. More than 50 bicyclists rode along the river and into north Minneapolis, enjoying a wonderful morning (before the rain arrived later that day).

The ride started at the North Mississippi Regional Park.

 

 

Bike Walk Ambassadors were on hand to lend a hand, especially with the younger riders.

 

Helmets and bicycles were available for those who needed one for the ride.

 

The Major Taylor Bicycling Club members are easy to spot with these t-shirts.

Even a few younger cyclists made the ride on Saturday morning.

Anthony Taylor (no relation to Major Taylor) kicked off the ride at North Mississippi Regional Park.
